Haunted houses and creatively chilling costumes are terrific ways to explore the dark side of Halloween. Pumpkin patches and corn mazes are ways to have fun while still celebrating the holiday. Whether hanging out with friends, with family or alone, fall is the perfect time to celebrate with many different options near and far.
Stewart Farms is a pumpkin patch and corn maze located in Enoree. The maze is spooky and family-friendly with daytime and nighttime wagon rides. Stewart Farms is open Friday – Sunday through Nov. 1. Different activities cost between $5 and $12.
The Haunted Woods is located in Clinton. Scary clowns lurk in the woods, some holding chainsaws. If flashing lights are triggering, this might not be the best option. This attraction is open every Friday – Sunday in October and Nov. 1. Tickets are $20.
Nightmare Dungeon is a haunted house in Greenville. The two-story dungeon is filled with nightmares and horror. The Nightmare Dungeon follows a thrilling tale about a virus with deadly symptoms and the tortured spirits of patients and surgeons. The $30 tickets will
be sold throughout October and into the first weekend of November. Doors open at dark and stay open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays while closing at 11 p.m. on Sundays.
Madworld, also located in Greenville, is a haunted house with many different attractions. They have mini golf, axe throwing, carnival games, face painting and a new VR zombie shoot. For visitors looking to feel the thrill of a haunted house but who do not want to be scared, Madworld offers a no-scare medallion that will keep the monsters away. The attraction is open Fridays through Sundays with a few select Thursdays. Tickets are $40 for general admission. Add-ons like the Scaredy Cat medallion cost $50, the Fast Pass is $70, the All-Night-Long Fast Pass is $100, the Big-Scary-Night Out is $85, the VIP Package is $185, Season Passes are $185, the Super Pass is $295 and Early Access is $25 on top of the paid price. Tickets to play the games, VR Zombie Shoot, Ghost Town Mini Golf, carnival games and axe throwing range between $30 and $75.
Sweet Dreams Scare House is both an indoor and an outdoor path in Easley, hosting a quarter mile trail twisting through indoor and outdoor parts. They are open select days in October and November. General admission is $30 and a Fast Pass adds $10.
Escape Plan Columbia contains different escape rooms to choose from with different levels of fear. The Cabin was owned by a long-missing adventurer; find his treasure and solve the mystery of his disappearance. This is rated “not scary.” Zombie Apocalypse is the stopping of the Zombie Outbreak. This is rated “medium scary.” Floor 23 is not for the weak of mind. Other investigators have gone missing trying to find the strange things happening on floor 23 of the Jefferson Hotel. Escape Plan is open all week, and tickets start at $20.
Clinton Sease Farms Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch in Lexington, is an hour-and-a-half drive but has many fall activities. They have a barnyard corn maze, pretty pumpkin patch, unlimited wagon rides and more. Clinton Sease Farms is open Friday – Sunday. General admission is $18, but admission for just the pumpkin patch is $3.
For people willing to drive two hours to scare up some fun, Terror Falls Haunted Farm has four ghastly attractions: Frostbite Manor, Terror Trails, “Carnevil” of Souls and the Terror Falls Penitentiary. The Frostbite Manor has a scary Santa and eerie elves. The Terror Trails run through daunting dark woods. The Carnevil of Souls possesses something sinister behind the fun. The Terror Falls Penitentiary has an unconstrained outbreak; do not slow down and follow the blood trail. Terror Falls Haunted Farm is located in Gaston, SC, south of Columbia, and is open Fridays and Saturdays throughout October. Tickets can be purchased on the Terror Falls website or at the door for $25, but attractions close at 11 p.m.
Little Cane Creek Farm and Corn Maze has fall activities in West Union, SC. It includes a giant corn maze, hay rides and a pumpkin patch. The attractions are open Saturdays and Sundays with a $12 ticket purchase.
Hall Family Farm has corn mazes, pumpkin picking and musical hayrides. There is both a large and small corn maze. They are located in Lancaster, SC. Visit their website to see what days are open. There is no admission fee, and attractions cost between $5 and $12.
Fear Farm has six different attractions all included in the price of the ticket: The Abyss, Mineshaft Mayhem, The Coven, Confinement, Twisty’s Tricks and Treats and The Farm House. They are open from Friday to Sunday throughout October and into the first weekend of November, an hour and 15 minutes away in Blacksburg, SC. Tickets are $30, and a Fast Pass is available for an extra $15. The ticket booth closes at 11 p.m. The Abyss goes through dark and narrow corridors, and visitors encounter strange creatures as they wander through the town’s sewers. Mineshaft Mayhem has uneven floors, dim lighting and old miner spirits. The Coven has dark woods and seven witch sisters, each with different powers. The Confinement is home to the clinically insane. Twisty’s Tricks and Treats is a circus tent of mayhem and mischief. The Farm House has a ghostly story with multiple murders inside.
