Freshman Anna Jenkins is a lot busier than people would think. As a freshman who’s been playing on the tennis team for three years, she became the No. 1 player for the Lady Raiders this year. Jenkins is also Freshman President for Student Council. The quadruple-threat is also a representative for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Jenkins is a great example of an involved student.

In addition to being the Lady Raiders’ top player, Jenkins also plays No. 1 doubles with junior Abby Davis. She loves being on the team and says, “I get to meet new people, go out to eat with my friends after matches, play a sport that I think is so much fun, and I get to compete and represent my school.” The team won five games this season and were ranked No. 6 in the region. Sophomore Casey Partee said, “It’s been really cool to see how a ninth grader can be such a great player and leader.”

LDHS has a Student Body President for each class, and Jenkins is President for the Freshmen.

“I like that I get to help improve LDHS, and I believe that I am a good representative,” she said.

As the president of her class, Jenkins gets to talk to Superintendent Dr. Stephen Peters about problems that the ninth grade class has. She also communicates with eighth graders as they transition to high school. Junior Lleyton Able said, “I work closely with Anna in Student Council and she is always willing to work hard and do whatever is needed to make everything work smoothly. She is an outstanding person. Everyone should try to be an Anna Jenkins!”

Jenkins is also a new Raider News staff member, and she has been a part of skits for the Thanksgiving and Christmas episodes.

“I like how I get to meet new people and be a good form of entertainment for students,” Jenkins said.

“Anna is always positive and looking for ways to make Raider News the best it can be. She is such a hard worker,” junior Abby Fulmer, one of the Raider News co-hosts said.

Jenkins is also not afraid to share her Christian faith, which is why she is an FCA officer.  As an officer, she helps find speakers and meets every Thursday morning with other students and listens to the testimony/lesson. She helps set up and makes the whole meeting run smoothly. She enjoys FCA because she gets to “learn about [her] faith, and get[s]to know more people.”

Jenkins is a very good example of what a Raider should look like.
