Student Nutrition Services now serves meals for whole week

The District 55 Student Nutrition department served thousands of meals weekly from pick-up locations once public schools went online.  At first, staff at schools throughout the District provided breakfast and lunch to people 18 and younger for five days a week, but as of May 4, Student Nutrition has increased its service to breakfast and lunch every day.

According to the Laurens District 55 School Nutrition Facebook page, pick-up times will now be on Mondays and Thursdays each week.

“Parents and/or students can pick up a hot lunch on both days while also receiving bagged breakfast and lunch items for the remainder of the week. All schools in Laurens 55 will be serving these meals. Children do not have to attend the school where they choose to pick up their meals,” the department posted on Facebook.

Buses will continue to deliver food on their regular routes; however, buses are not equipped to provide hot meals, so students will only receive bagged meals from buses.

People who need to locate bus routes and onsite locations can find that information in previous posts on the Laurens 55 Student Nutrition Facebook page.
