After years of there being no fishing team, LDHS Anglers got started back up this school year. According to senior Matthew Brownlee, the team was rebuilt because of the agricultural community we live in and the fact that fishing allows students to experience the great outdoors.

This year, the team has fished in two tournaments so far throughout the Upstate. The weather caused their fish in these tournaments not to be the best. This spring the team will compete in three more tournaments.

Two of the team’s founding members are senior Levi Sanchez and Brownlee.“The team wouldn’t be a team without Levi and Matthew,” coach Joseph Adams said. After Sanchez got the fishing team up again, Brownlee became a huge part of it. Brownlee took on the position of Vice President. Fishing allows Brownlee to do “what I love and be around people with the same passion.”
