The song “Mic Drop” was performed by the South Korean boy group, Bangtan Boys (BTS). The remix of the song was produced by Steve Aoki. Steve Aoki has worked with many artists, such as Iggy Azalea, Louis Tomlinson, Fall Out Boy and Linkin Park. The remix of “Mic Drop” also features American rapper Desiigner, who is well known for his songs “Panda” and “Timmy Turner.” The remix of the song was released Nov. 24, 2017 in America. “Mic Drop” is number 7 on its album, Love Yourself: Her. The leader of BTS, RM (who speaks fluent English), stated in an interview that the song “‘Mic Drop’ was inspired by President Barack Obama’s mic drop, at his last White House Correspondent Dinner.” BTS has also won over eight  American awards, ranging from the Billboard Awards to the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. They have also been nominated for four Radio Disney Music Awards and seven Teen choice awards. The remix of “Mic Drop” has been certified gold in the United States, making BTS the first K-pop group to ever receive this honor.

BTS had their comeback at the 2018 Billboard awards, with their new song Fake Love. BTS is the first K-pop group to ever perform at a Billboard Awards. Thanks to BTS’s fan club, Adorable Representative MC of Youth (A.R.M.Y),  they are now the new models of Coca Cola for the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). BTS has also made it into the Guinness World Record 2018 book with the Most Twitter Engagement. BTS has not only been successful in American but also in other countries as well, such as Korea and Japan. They make music videos in both Korean and Japanese, but “Mic Drop” has only two music videos, which are in English and Korean. The English version of Mic Drop, does not feature Desiigner in it. In the English music video Desiigner  is replaced with BTS rappers, J-hope and Suga. The Korean version of Mic Drop does not feature Steve Aoki or Desiigner. Although I can say when I was listening to the English version of the song I was surprised that most of the song was in English I wasn’t expecting it . But since majority of the members don’t speak English it is harder to understand. For me Steve Aoki Overall combining American artists and Korean artists together, makes a pretty good collaboration.
